Opening Night and a preview of today’s games

Last night’s Padres-Dodgers game marked the first day of uninterrupted baseball for the next 106 days until the All Star Break, and Padres outfielder Seth Smith kicked it off with a long, game-tying home run to right field in the eighth inning.

For the fifth time in the last six years, Smith homered within the first 10 games of the season. This was his first Opening Day home run since 2009 with the Colorado Rockies, when he hit a game tying home run against the Diamondbacks in the seventh inning. Continue reading
